5th Biennial of Architectural and Urban Restoration - 2021
BRAU 5, coordinated by CICOP Italia (with the support of the Confederation of the CICOP Network) was an international and interdisciplinary cultural event that took place in 4 continents (America, Asia, Africa and Europe), with the participation of Brazil, Cyprus, Egypt, Greece , Italy and Syria. The President of BRAU 5 was the architectNina Avramidou.
Originally scheduled for 2020, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, BRAU5 took place by videoconference in 2021, between 15.April - 4.May. It also brought the exhibition “Models of Leonardo da Vinci's machines”, made by the architect. Andrea Neri.
BRAU5 THEME
General theme: THE CHARME OF DECAY (THE CHARME OF DECAY).
4 Themes - BRAU5's 4 Themes are viewed in terms of cultural aspects and their economic and social implications, with regard to interventions that have already been carried out or projects that have just been conceived and proposed. Participants in conferences organized under BRAU are invited to present studies and projects on the following topics (and subtopics).
Theme A - Permanent maintenance of small historic towns.
Theme B - Restoration of Monumental Ensembles.
Theme C - Strategies for the re-appropriation of abandoned buildings located in urban and extra-urban centers; industrial archaeology.
Theme D - Interventions in the modern built heritage.
